Rome's ancient heart - Rione Monti [..] One evening, we entrusted ourselves to the expert care of Nicola and his son Marco, the proud owners of the famous Tavernelle restaurant, also known as I Ragazzi di via Panisperna (these originally being the Noble Prize-winning Enrico Fermi and his ragazzi, who worked on the newly emerging field of nuclear physics in the 1930s at the Univeristy of Rome's Faculty of Physics, on via Panisperna). As we sat down we saw from the photo-lined walls that our predecessors included international stars such as Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, as well as home-grown stars from the football field, music world and political arena - we were definitely among distinguished company! Our hosts were on hand to gently guide us as we created a masterpiece of a meal from fresh fish, home-made pastas, antipasti and funghi porcini, artichokes, peppers, puntarelle and zucchine flowers. Full as we were, we could not resist indulging in the award-winning dolce vita dessert, a recipe created and brought to life by Nicola himself, and for which he has earned a place in dessert history, winning many acclaimed awards.[..]
